Ceasefire Betrayed: Pakistan’s Actions Undermine Fragile Peace in South Asia

Just when the light of hope had begun to shine in the hearts of the two nations Pakistan struck again betraying trust and proving

It has lived up to its habitual violation of ceasefire agreements. The ceasefire came into effect from May 10 at 5 PM IST. After three days of escalated tension and military action between India and Pakistan the US president announced a ceasefire agreement between both the nations after the DGMO of Pakistan pleaded the Indian government to do so . Even as the ceasefire was announced, Pakistan’s actions on the ground tell a separate story.

Just a few hours after the ceasefire agreement a drone was shot down in Baramulla suspicious (UAVs) were spotted. Drones  were  sighted in Rajouri, Udhampur, Jaisalmer, Pathankot and multiple other areas. The tension is increasing exponentially.  The BSF has been given a freehand . The response to such a shameful act is expected to be swift, decisive and applaudable. The return of hostilities has once again plunged the region into uncertainty and fear.

True to its character India lived up to its words keeping peace but   this restraint was taken for weakness .Peace demands courage and integrity but a nation funding extremists wouldn't know about this. Such an act of mere cowardice from a government that begged for loans to recover from just the defensive acts taken by our government is nothing but total hypocrisy . The international community must open their eyes and understand how this duplicity will affect the stability of the whole south asian subcontinent.
